Invest SEA Partners with BRIN to Explore Sustainable Development in the Natuna Islands

Invest SEA was thrilled to join forces with Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), a presidential-level body committed to ensuring that scientific insight guides Indonesia’s development.

This partnership reflected our shared commitment to advancing sustainable development and supporting economic sovereignty in Southeast Asia.

From 19–25 August, teams from Invest SEA and BRIN travelled to the Natuna Islands to conduct in-depth research into the region’s potential for sustainable development. The focus was on ecotourism, fisheries, and the responsible management of natural resources — sectors that held immense promise for both local communities and the wider Indonesian economy.

This initiative was more than a research trip; it was a collaborative effort to bring together government insight, scientific expertise, and Invest SEA’s knowledge of sustainable development practices. By working hand in hand, we aimed to identify opportunities that balanced economic growth with environmental stewardship, ensuring that Natuna’s natural wealth could benefit local generations to come.

The Natuna Islands project exemplified our approach to development: partnerships built on mutual goals, respect for local ecosystems, and a long-term vision that prioritised community prosperity and sustainability. Together with BRIN, Invest SEA helped lay the groundwork for initiatives that would not only stimulate investment but also strengthen the islands’ capacity for self-sustaining economic growth.

We looked forward to sharing insights from this project and continuing our work with BRIN to promote sustainable development across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Stay tuned!
